Schneider Electric, a global provider of energy and automation digital solutions, has appointed Chris Leong as its new Chief Sustainability Officer. In her role, Leong will oversee the company’s sustainability strategy, commitments, and initiatives, spanning corporate citizenship, institutional affairs, sustainability performance, and environmental impact.
Leong has been with Schneider Electric since 2012, initially serving as Executive Vice President of Digital Customer Experience. She most recently held the position of Chief Marketing Officer and was a member of the company’s Executive Committee. Prior to joining Schneider Electric, Leong led Nokia’s Greater China, Korea, and Japan region and held several global roles, including Senior Vice President of Global Marketing. Her career also includes senior executive roles at WPP group companies, including Bates Asia, Ogilvy Europe, and Grey Global Group Asia, where she worked with prominent global brands such as P&G, Ford, HSBC, Heineken, and various telecommunications companies.
In a statement, Leong emphasized the centrality of sustainability to Schneider Electric’s mission, describing it as the company’s “guiding north star that ignites our curiosity, encouraging us to question the status quo and unleash innovative ideas to overcome challenges that may seem daunting.” She added, “It is thanks to our determination to turn ambitions into actions that we are a decarbonization champion, relentlessly pursuing energy efficiency, automation, and digitization innovation that makes a difference.”
Schneider Electric highlighted Leong’s passion for ESG principles, noting on its website that she “is a firm believer that purpose-led enterprises are the foundation for a sustainable and equitable future for our businesses, customers, employees, communities, and the environment.”
