The corporate finance company Sustainalytics and the non-profit organisation CDP (formerly known as Carbon Disclosure Project) have recognised Morocco’s OCP Group for its continued efforts to improve its environmental, social, and governance performance (ESG). OCP earned a risk score of 24.4 from Sustainalytics, representing a 3.1-point improvement from 2021. Additionally, CDP gave OCP a score of A-, recognising the company’s efforts to reduce emissions, mitigate climate risks, and promote a low-carbon economy.
Potential environmental impact:
OCP Group’s ambitious carbon neutrality and renewable energy strategies, including programmes to recover phosphorus from low-content phosphates and recycle mining by-products, have put the company at the forefront of sustainable business practices. The company’s commitment to becoming carbon-neutral by 2040, achieving 100% green energy by 2030, and ensuring water self-sufficiency by 2024 demonstrate a strong commitment to protecting the environment and addressing climate change. The recognition from CDP and Sustainalytics highlights OCP’s progress and serves as an encouragement to other companies in the agricultural chemicals industry to follow their lead in sustainability.
