Glencore has partnered with scrap brokerage Zeb Metals to advance aluminium scrap and dross recycling at a new plant in South Carolina, USA.
The facility at Charleston is scheduled to open by the end of this year. It will include two rotary furnaces to recycle aluminium dross and industrial scrap for regional consumption.
Glencore is active in more than 35 countries, operating recycling plants across North America, South America and Europe. It has recently been focussing more on sustainable business models.
Glencore says it is eager to close the loop for critical metals by processing electronic scrap, end-of-life vehicles, batteries and other products containing valuable metals.
