Udaipur, also known as the City of Lakes, was named the top recipient of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds in the state of Rajasthan for FY 2020-2021. The Udaipur district received a total of almost $14 million from 94 companies during the last financial year. The top three sectors of focus for CSR initiatives in the district were Health, Environment, and Education, which received $10 million, $2 million and $1 million, respectively. The top three spenders in the district were Bajaj Finance Limited, Hindustan Zinc Limited, and the Great Eastern Shipping Company Limited.

Potential environmental impact:

The Udaipur district was the top recipient of CSR funds in the state of Rajasthan for FY 2020-2021, with a significant amount of funds going towards environmental initiatives. One such project is the Water Economic Zones initiative by DS Group. The project is focused on enhancing natural resources, particularly water and soil, and increasing the productivity of the land. The company has partnered with two local NGOs to implement the project, which will benefit more than 23,000 people from 26 villages, mostly from a tribal background. It will cover an area of around 11,000 hectares across both locations in Udaipur. So far, multiple soil and water conservation structures have been constructed as part of the project, and 14 check dams and one community pond have been revived. These kinds of initiatives will help in improving the quality of life of the tribal and rural community by developing possible water resources and subsequently enhancing livelihoods by facilitating on-farm and off-farm activities.icon
